The main 70 metre radio telescope at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Centre at Tidbinbilla. This is part of the international network that receives radio signals from the Mars rovers, Voyager, Moon missions etc.
Holbrook, NSW is home to the HMAS Otway, a decommissioned submarine. I don't know why they need to concrete it in though, it's not like it would be stolen during the night.... The orange glow is not rust, it's the setting sun glinting off the sheen of the sub.
Looking towards the 74" telescope atop Mount Stromlo, outside of Canberra, Australia. The Mount Stromlo observatory was burnt beyond repair during the Canberra bushfires of January 2003.
